A Few Tarot Facts
There are 22 cards in the Major Arcana and 56 cards in the Minor Arcana (5+6 = 11, which is half of 22). 2+2 = 4. In the lemniscate spread, 10 cards comprise one loop and 10 cards comprise the second loop. At the intersection of the lemniscate, two cards cross each other: The Wheel of Fortune, card 10, and The World, card 21. 21 is also the number of Major cards that bear numerals: (The Fool card is un-numbered). When added together, cards 10 and 21 amount to 31 (3+1 = 4) Number 4 also relates to The Wheel of Fortune because the first 4 numbers add up to 10: 1+2+3+4 = 10. Number 4 therefore contains within itself the essence of every other number. The World card displays 4 images, known collectively as the Tetramorph (from tetra, Greek for 4). There are also 4 suits in the Minor Arcana and 4 Court cards in each suit, and each suit contains 10 cards. How magical is all that!
